κορίαννον
Ancient Greek
Alternative forms
- κορίαμβλον (koríamblon), κορίανδρον (koríandron)
Etymology
Szemerényi points to the comparison with Akkadian 𒌑𒄷𒌷𒌝 (úḫurium), but this not explain the -d- in Mycenaean Greek [script needed] (ko-ri-a2-da-na). Beekes supposes that cluster -dn- implies a Pre-Greek, and hypothesizes that *koriaⁿdro- may have dissimilated to *koriaⁿdno-.
