扯

扯(撦) [chě] 动

1. ■ （拉） pull:

扯着嗓子喊 shout at the top of one's voice;

他扯了扯我的衣袖以引起我的注意。 He pulled my sleeve, attracted my attention in this way.

这是两个问题， 不能往一块儿扯。 These two questions should not be lumped together.

2. ■ （撕; 撕下） tear:

扯下假面具 tear off the mask;

把信扯得粉碎 tear a letter to pieces;

这包裹的封皮扯不开。 The cover of the parcel won't tear.

3. ■ （买布等） buy (cloth, thread, etc.):

扯点儿布 buy some cloth

4. ■ （漫无边际地闲谈） chat; gossip:

扯家常 chat about everyday family affairs; engage in small talk; chitchat;

别扯远了。 Don't wander from the subject.; Stick to the point.

咱俩好好扯一扯。 Let's have a good chat.

5. ■ [方] （拔） pull up:

扯草 pull up weeds; weed;

扯秧 pull up seedlings (for transplanting)
