扎 (紥、紮) [zhā] 动

1. ■ （刺） prick; stab; run or stick (a needle, etc.) into:

手指给刺扎痛了 get one's finger pricked by a thorn;

歹徒扎死了一名无辜者。 The gangster stabbed an innocent person to death.

2. ■ （驻扎） station; quarter:

安营扎寨 make camp; pitch a tent or camp; encamp;

把部队驻扎在小山上 station the troops on a hill

3. ■ [方] （钻进去） get into; plunge into:

一头扎到工作上 throw oneself into work;

扎入水中 dive into the water; plunge into the water
