Etymology
Cognate with Parthian 𐫀𐫇𐫘𐫤𐫏𐫃𐫀𐫗 (ʾwstygʾn /ōstīgān/, “strong, firm”), 𐫀𐫇𐫘𐫤𐫏𐫃 (ʾwstyg /ōstīg/, “firm, stable”). Nyberg analyses as *ava-staya-ka-.
