Etymology
From older zubr – an Old East Slavic-influenced form from Proto-Slavic *zǫbrъ ~ *izǫbrъ. DisplacedOld Polish ząbr. The current form being żubr and not zubr is a result of hypercorrection due to avoiding mazuration.
