Etymology
From Proto-Southern Nuristani *unáwə, possibly from earlier *unáwřə, from Proto-Nuristani *unnáprata (“wide field”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *udnás (“water”) + *prátʰas (“width”), literally "wide sea, wide water". Cognate with Ashkun unáu. Compare Japanese 庭 (niwa, “garden, wide sea”) and 海原 (unabara, “wide ocean”).
