忘 [wàng] 动

1. ■ （忘记） forget:

遗忘 forget;

废寝忘食 be forgetful of one's sleep and meals; forget food and sleep;

我们不要好了伤疤忘了痛。 We must not forget the pain when the wound has healed.

我永远也忘不了你对我的好处。 I shall always remember your kindness to me.

饮水不忘掘井人。 When you drink the water, think of those who dug the well.

2. ■ （疏忽; 漏做） overlook; neglect:

别忘了代我向他们问好。 Don't forget to give my regards to them.

唉呀! 旅行袋忘了拿了。 Oh dear! The travelling bag has been left behind.

走的时候别忘了锁门。 Don't neglect locking [to lock] the door when you leave.
