Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *anj, close to Sanskrit अनीति (ániti, “blow out”), Gothic 𐌿𐌶𐌰𐌽𐌰𐌽 (uzanan, “blow out”).[1] Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *aidn(i)-, from Proto-Indo-European *Hoid- (“to swell”). Cognate to Armenian aytnowm (“to swell”), Old Norse økkr (“swelling, lump, growth”), Latin inguen (“groin, the genitals, tumefaction in the pubic region”).
