- (archaic) Any of the yellow pigmentary particles, or minute corpuscles of yellow coloring matter, found in certain radiolarians.
- Any of various typically yellow-brown dinoflagellates (originally grouped as genus Zooxanthella) now assigned to the genera Symbiodinium and Amphidinium, notably found in coral reefs.
