Etymology

Borrowed from Gulf Arabic عَيَم (ʿayam, Kuwaiti citizens of Iranian descent), plural of عيمي (ʿīmi), from Classical Arabic عَجَم (non-Arabs, especially Persians). Doublet of Ajam and aljamiado.
