Etymology
Compound of zes (“six”) and the plural form of gehucht (“hamlet, rural settlement without a church”). Formerly an independent fiefdom which was named after the six hamlets within its territory: Genoenhuis, Gijzenrooi, Hoog Geldrop, Hout, Hulst and Riel.
