Alternatively from or possibly influenced by Proto-Germanic *aiwǭ, *aiwaz (“law, custom”) (compare Old English ǣw, æ (“law, marriage, ceremony”) and Old High German ēwa (“law, marriage”); suggesting then the existence of Proto-Finnic *avio).
