Westerlittens
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as letenzera zyl in 1469. Compound of wester (“western, west-”) and Old Frisian Lêta (“a personal name”) suffixed with the collectivising suffix -ingi-. The Frisian name is an independent development of the toponym. The element wester was added to distinguish the settlement from Oosterlittens.
