Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *wānti, a participle in * -nti[1], or from *wānā, reflecting Proto-Indo-European *u̯en 'to lack, be empty; to strive, to wish for, to love'. Compare Ancient Greek εὖνις (eûnis, “stolen; looted, lack, be short of”), Armenian unain (“empty, bare, lacking”), Latin vanus (“bare, lacking, empty, void, vacant”), Old Norse vanr (“lacking”).
