Etymology
vietnámi (“Vietnamese”) + papucs (“sandal”). These flip-flops were originally imported from Vietnam. Compare Czech and Slovak vietnamky, Ukrainian в'єтнамки (vʺjetnamky) and Russian вьетнамки (vʹjetnamki). It is also possible that it derives from Russian.
