ulung
Polish
Alternative forms
- ulong, oolung, oolong, wulung
Etymology
Borrowed from Mandarin 烏龍/乌龙 / 乌龙 (wūlóng), from 烏/乌 / 乌 (wū, “black”) + 龍/龙 / 龙 (lóng, “dragon”). In the sense 1, the form is a dialectal or humorous pronunciation of the third-person singular masculine past of ulęgać with connotations to the name of the tea, probably due to the 1980s joke czy znasz bajkę o herbacie? Gdzieś ty się chamie ulung! [instead of standard ulągł] (Do you know a story about tea? Where were you raised, you prick!)[1].
