tursin
Maltese
Etymology
From Sicilian pitrusinu, from Latin petroselinum, from Ancient Greek πετροσέλῑνον (petrosélīnon). Probably an early borrowing in which the initial pi- was interpreted as the preposition bi (“with”), thus Maltese bit-tursin (“with parsley”), whence the backformation.
