Etymology
Via other Euroepan languages, ultimately borrowed from Latin trōglodyta (“cave dwelling people”), itself a borrowing from Ancient Greek τρωγλοδύτης (trōglodútēs, “one who dwells in holes”), from τρώγλη (trṓglē, “hole”) and δύω (dúō, “I get into”).
