吵 [chǎo] 动

1. ■ （声音杂乱扰人） disturb by making noise; make a noise:

吵得慌 terribly noisy;

别吵! Don't make so much noise!; Be quiet!

别吵他。 Don't disturb him.

瞧， 孩子被你们吵醒了。 Look! You've woken the child with your noise.

他被收音机吵醒了。 He was disturbed and awakened by the radio.

2. ■ （争吵） quarrel; wrangle; squabble:

吵翻了天 kick up a terrific row;

不要为一点小事就吵起来。 Don't squabble over trifles.
