吊(弔) [diào] 动

1. ■ （悬挂） hang; suspend:

吊打 hang up and beat sb.

灯吊在天花板上。 The light was suspended from the ceiling.

门前吊着两盏红灯。 There were two red lanterns hanging over the door.

2. ■ （用绳子等系着向上提或向下放） lift up or let down with a rope, etc.:

搬运工人用吊车才把钢琴吊到3楼。 By using a hoist the movers were able to sling the piano to the third floor.

起重机将大包吊进货舱。 The crane lifted the bales into the hold.

他们造了一台能吊起150吨重量的吊车。 They built a crane capable of lifting 150 tons.

3. ■ （把皮桶子加面子或里子缝成衣服） put in a fur lining:
