-taq (v-n?, truncative?)

  1. something that has been [verb]ed; passive participle
    nanuttaq
    A polar bear that has been caught.
  2. the part of something that is made of something else
    e.g. arnartarput
    The woman among us.

Usage notes

This suffix takes the following forms:

  • -taq in most contexts
  • -saq after stems ending in a vowel
  • -gaq after stems ending in -r
