tald
See also: tåld
Estonian
Etymology
Cognate to Ingrian talla (“inner sole of a boot”), Finnish talla (“sole of a plough or sledge”), and Livonian tōla (“foot”). Most likely derived from tallama (“to trample”). The root has likely mixed with a Scandinavian loan; compare Swedish stall and Old Norse stallr.
