From Latin synthesis, from Ancient Greek σύνθεσις (súnthesis, “a putting together; composition”), from συντίθημι (suntíthēmi, “put together, combine”), from σύν (sún, “together”) + τίθημι (títhēmi, “set, place”).[1] With -zis ending.
