From Malay sukma, from Javanese ꦱꦸꦏ꧀ꦩ (sukma, “soul, life”), from Prakrit sukhuma, from Sanskrit सूक्ष्म (sūkṣma).[1] Cognate of Old Javanese sūkṣma.
