     The new Turkic government in Azerbaijan was called the Atabey Government or State. Atabey means the father of beys (nobility title) in Azerbaijani.

     The Turkish title of atabeg (also atabek or atabey), meaning "father prince", was a hereditary title of the Turkish nobility.
