出面 [chū miàn]

1. ■ （以个人或集体名义做某事） act in one's own capacity [on behalf of an organization]; appear personally; come forward:

出面调解 act as a mediator;

亲自出面 take up the matter oneself;

自己不出面 keep oneself in the background;

他没有出面。 He did not show up.

双方由民间团体出面商谈贸易。 Trade talks are to be held by nongovernmental organizations of both sides.
