写(寫) [xiě] 动

1. ■ （用笔在纸或其他东西上做字） write:

把名字写在书里面 inscribe one's name in a book;

着手写 put pen to paper;

把某事写下来 commit sth. to paper [writing];

匆匆写下 jot down;

写白字 wrongly write a character:

写得清楚有力 write clearly and forcibly;

写得一手好字 have good handwriting; write a good hand [fist]; write a fair hand;

用钢笔写 write with a pen;

用墨水写 write with ink;

标语上写着: “不准吸烟!” The poster reads “No smoking!”

车票上写明经上海到北京。 The ticket reads to Beijing via Shanghai.

这支笔不好写。 This pen doesn't write well.

2. ■ （写作） compose; write:

写剧本 write a play;

写科学论文 write scientific papers; write theses on scientific subjects;

写日记 make an entry in one's diary; keep a diary;

写诗 compose a poem; poetize; versify

3. ■ （描写） describe; depict; picture:

写景 describe the scenery;

写一个英雄的成长过程 depict the growth of a hero;

写得引人入胜 pen fascinatingly;

写得达意 pen expressively
