Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *skunta, either a nasal present of Proto-Indo-European *skeut- or from Proto-Indo-European *sku(n)t-, *ku(n)t- (“to shake, rattle”), close to Proto-Germanic *skundijaną (“to drive, push, compel, rush”) (cf. English shunt). Cognate to Middle Irish scothaid (“to cut off”), Lithuanian skutù (“to scrape”) and Latin scindō (“to tear into parts”)[1].
