semi-learned borrowing (plural semi-learned borrowings)
- (linguistics) A word or other linguistic form borrowed from a classical language into a modern one, but partly reshaped based on later sound changes or by analogy with inherited words in the language. These words occur especially in the Romance and the Indo-Aryan languages (in case of the latter, specifically called semi-tatsamas).
