Cognate with Scots selly, silly (approved, good, worthy), Old Saxon seldlīk (rare, wonderful), Gothic 𐍃𐌹𐌻𐌳𐌰𐌻𐌴𐌹𐌺𐍃 (sildaleiks, wonderful).
