  1. (military, obsolete) An escalade.
    • 1600, Edward Fairfax, The Jerusalem Delivered of Tasso, XI, xxxiv:
      Adrastus first advanc'd his crest aloft, / And boldly 'gan a strong scalado rear, // And through the falling storm did upward climb / Of stones, darts, arrows, fire, pitch, and lime.
