salava
Catalan
Verb
salava
- first-person singular imperfect indicative form of salar
- third-person singular imperfect indicative form of salar
Finnish
Etymology
From Proto-Finnic *salaga, (compare dialectal salaja). Further origin unclear: possibly from Proto-Germanic *salhô (“willow”) (compare Swedish sälg, English sallow) or less likely from Proto-Finno-Ugric *śala (“elm”) (compare Erzya селей (selej), Eastern Mari шол (šol), Hungarian szil). In either case, no cognates in the other Finnic languages are known.
