Etymology
Probably from Albanian raki; itself from Turkish raki, from Arabic عَرَقِيّ (ʿaraqiyy, “of liquor”), from عَرَق (ʿaraq, “arrack, arak”, literally “condensate”), which refers to an ouzo-like liqueur made of Raisins. Compare Romanian rachiu.
