下 [xia] 动

1. ■ （用在动词后，表示由高处到低处）:

放下 put (sth.) down;

跑下山 run down a hill;

躺下 lie down;

坐下 sit down

2. ■ （用在动词后， 表示有空间， 能容纳）:

这房间能坐下50人。 The room can hold [seat] fifty people.

碗太小装不下这汤。 The bowl is too small for the soup.

这么多菜我吃不下。 I can't eat all this food.

3. ■ （用在动词后， 表示动作的完成或结果）:

把它写下来 write it down;

打下扎实的基础 lay a solid foundation;

准备下必需的材料 prepare necessary material
