Attested as Rijsenhout in 1959. Named after a former island, potentially derived from a compound of the hydronym De Reizen (derived from Proto-Germanic *rîsan (“move, flow”)) and Middle Dutch hout (“rising deciduous forest”). Compare Driebergen-Rijsenburg, Langereis and Rijsbrug.
