Armhoede
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as Armhoede of Armoede in 1839. Allegedly derived from armoede (“poverty”). The toponym apparently first referred to a common pasture that was used by impoverished local farmers. The name was then transferred to the settlement that had formed nearby.
