Related to Lithuanian kėršis, kėršas, Old Prussian kerse, kerso and Proto-Indo-European *kr̥snós: Old Church Slavonic чрьнъ (črĭnŭ), Bulgarian черен (čeren), Proto-Slavic *čьrnъ, and Sanskrit कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa).[1][2]
