Proto-Uralic

Etymology

The Samic-Finnic-Mordvinic words have previously been considered possible loanwords from Germanic, but Aikio (2002) argues that since regular counterparts in Samoyedic can be found, while the Germanic word lacks a good Indo-European etymology, the direction of loaning is likely to have rather been Uralic → Germanic.
