Borrowed from Scythian *xata-ruča- (“dugout with a window ?”), from Proto-Iranian *kata- (compare Avestan 𐬐𐬀𐬙𐬀- (kata-, “room, hut, cellar”), Persian کد (kad, “house”)) + *ráwčah (“light”).
