Etymology

Action/result noun of *kusati, *kusiti (“to probe, to taste”) +‎ *-ъ, of Germanic origin. In daughter languages where *ǫ > *u, superseded by forms of native Proto-Slavic *kǫsъ (“piece, bite”).
