Proto-Permic
Etymology
Often proposed to be from Proto-Uralic *towke, in which case related to Proto-Finnic *touko. This in uncertain, as the outcome is quite irregular. The irregularities can be explained as analogy to an unrelated verb *tunu̇ (“to flow over”) (whence Komi-Zyrian туны (tuny)), and the derived verb **tulinu̇ (whence Komi-Zyrian тулыны (tulyny)).
