Proto-Northwest Caucasian
Etymology
Possibly related to Proto-Northeast Caucasian *χʕāmV (“skin”)[1] and Proto-Kartvelian *qam- (“leather”).[2] However this reconstruction seems unlikely, and it is rather related to Proto-Georgian-Zan *ṭq̇aw- (“hide, animal skin”).
