Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *bʰluH-yé-ti, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰlewH-.[1] Alternatively reconstructed as *flowō, from *bʰléwH-ti ~ *bʰluH-énti, from the same root.[2] Not related to English flow, which is inherited from *plew-.
