Etymology

From *lordskā, from Proto-Indo-European *lord-sk-eh₂, *lord-sḱ-eh₂, from *lerd- (crooked),[1] + *-ākos. Cognate with լորցք (lorcʿkʿ), Greek λορδός (lordós, bent backward), Proto-West Germanic *lort (crooked).
