     Porrō, Quirītēs! lībertātem perdimus.

     Hither, ye Romans! we’re losing our liberty.

   • c. 1st C. CE, various authors, Priapeia 26.1–6:

     Porrō―nam quis erit modus?―Quirītēs,
     aut praecīdite sēmināle membrum,
     quod tōtīs mihi noctibus fatīgant
     vīcīnae sine fīne prūrientēs
     vērnīs passeribus salāciōrēs,
     aut rumpar, nec habēbitis Priāpum.

     Hither―for what measure will there be?―Romans,
     either cut me the seminal member,
     which in all the nights exhaust
     the neighbour women, endlessly itching
     more lecherous than the springtime sparrows,
