Etymology

From Old Galician and Old Portuguese pendurar (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), either from Vulgar Latin pendulare from Latin pendulus (hanging); or rather from pendura, from Latin *penditūra,[1] both from pendeō (I hang). Cognate with Portuguese pendurar.
