Antwort
German
Etymology
From Middle High German antwürte, from Old High German antwurti, from Proto-Germanic *andawurdiją. The gender change from neuter to feminine is due to semantic association with Frage (“question”). See also antworten. Cognate to Dutch antwoord and Afrikaans antwoord.
