Etymology
From Ancient Greek οὐροβόρος (ourobóros, “tail-devouring”), a compound of οὐρά (ourá, “tail”) + -βόρος (-bóros, “-devouring”), which is derived from the verb βιβρώσκω (bibrṓskō, “to eat up”).
