Etymology
Hungarian development from the name of the country Ausztria as follows: Ausztria > Ósztria > Osztria. The latter in time became an adjective and its plural osztriák denoted the people. Later, the forms osztriák / osztrák felt singular and the forms osztrák / osztrákok were established.[1]
