Borrowed from Latin obnūbilātus, perfect passive participle of obnūbilō (cover with clouds or fog), from ob- + nūbilō (be cloudy), from nūbēs (cloud), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *(s)newdʰ- (to cover).
